The core Adroitness boon grants a simple numeric bonus to skill rolls. However, there is no way to gain the use of a specialization. The rules here add gradations of Adroitness to handle these cases.
Just like the bonus dice from Lesser Adroitness, the specialties from Medial and Greater Adroitness boons do not satisfy the prerequisite for other purchases.
Pledge Cost: 1
This takes the place of the core Adroitness boon. It can grant a +1 bonus to any skill, optionally stacking as per the Adroitness Guidelines.
Pledge Cost: 2
Medial Adroitness grants a single normal specialty, like Pickpocketing for Larceny or Stare Down for Intimidation. These are specializations that don't require intense training and simply reflect a peculiar knack for that use of the skill.
Certain skills have peculiar uses which are hard, but not impossible, to do without a specialization. Characters who lack the specialty simply suffer a penalty to the attempt. The specialties for these uses fall under Medial Adroitness.
Examples of Medial Adroitness specialties: Drive (Power Boats), most Academics specialties, many Craft specialties, Weaponry (Keris)
Pledge Cost: 3
Greater Adroitness grants a single, powerful skill specialization, like Instrument Flying for Drive, or Explosives for Craft. These specializations represent much more than a knack and are usually the culmination of years of intense training and study.
Examples of Greater Adroitness specialties: Drive (Helicopters), Academics (Nuclear Physics), Craft (Explosives)
These new boons allow for new ways to "stack" old-fashioned adroitness skill bonuses. With this variant, Lesser Aroitness grants +1, Medial Adroitness grants +2, and Greater Adroitness grants +3.
