The first clause of the Contracts of Communion allows the changeling to sense all of their chosen element within a big radius. With the element Air, it’s pretty easy to identify where a person is, even during combat and even behind cover. This combines particularly well with the fourth dot of the Archery fighting style, which allows high arcing shots to ignore cover as long as some part of the target can be seen.
In order to avoid being a pincushion, combatants can hunker themselves next to their cover. It’s still clear that someone is present, but exactly where their body ends and their cover begins is much harder to discern. This uncertainty negates Arcing Shot at the expense of spending a turn glued to a car, hay bale, or some other piece of cover.
