A Ring Around the World takes place in the Kingdom of Pallavia, a thriving country on its continent’s southwest coast. It is recently beset by bizarre beast-men who swarmed north through Pallavia’s farmland before stalling near the capital city of Thalis.
Since the game is currently set within the borders of Pallavia, the Pallavia page is the best place to start. To learn what is known about the invading beasts, see the Nu’hol page. For scraps of info about the Che Nuv’poe, another race from the Nu’hol homeland of Kaelon, see the Goat Men page.
This is the timeline known so far about the Nu’hol and Pallavia.
War with the Che Nuv’pou began far from the area that would become Tamasa’s domain.
Tamasa ascends to the throne of her kingdom, one of many nu’hol countries in Kaelon
Darius Bisset unites the low nobles of Pallavia against King Aadam Hidelgar
Darius leads a successful uprising against King Aadam, sending the deposed ruler into exile. The remaining nobles either swear fealty to Darius, or leave with Aadam. The few loyalists too stubborn to leave are publically executed in Thalis.
Newly crowned King Darius restructures the country’s nobility, removing all ranks except Baron.
Matthew Bisset is the firstborn of King Darius. The royal family would grow to five children within ten years.
The 8th age comes to a close as the Great War with the Che nuv’poe is recognized as an existential threat to the nu’hol race.
As the war worsens, there is growing pressure to worship Kavenir, the Nu’hol god of Strength, Travel, and War.
The pressure to worship Kavenir turns into an full endorsement from Tamasa, leading to the Church of Kavenir being named the official religion of the remaining Nu’hol.
King Darius is slain in battle against Bochamese forces during the Landover War. King Matthew is crowned in the field and successfully retakes the eastern reaches of the kingdom from Bocham.
Reigning Queen Tamasa does not relinquish her throne as was expected and customary. Instead, she performs some kind of ritual that “transforms” her into a more powerful ruler. Her subjects hope and pray that her ascension will save them from the che nuv’poe.
Edward Bissett is born to King Matthew I and Queen Annabelle. His birth is celebrated throughout the nobility. They had begun to despair that the King and Queen would ever produce an heir.
King Matthew decrees that the Marcusis church is to be banished from his lands. A brief, bloody war ensues during which worshippers of Marcusis are slain or driven to Bocham.
King Matthew passes away peacefully in his sleep. He was 68 years old.
The Che Nuv’poe are apparently victorious over the Nu’hol. All who remain flee to safety in the pyramidal temples scattered throughout their former lands. Many are transported to Pallavia via unknown magics.
A wave of fierce beast-men sweep northward from Pallavia’s coast, killing everyone they meet and quickly conquering Pallavia’s southern baronies.
