The Freehold of the Mist-Burnt Veil claims all of Port Bowen as its jurisdiction. It was created out of desperation around 10 years ago and somehow remains whole, despite the usual backstabbing and politicking of its members.
The freehold started out with no more than the four traditional seasonal courts: Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. A fifth, Shadow, was inducted in 2010 and its partner Radiant court followed shortly after.
Until late 2010, courtless changelings were completely excluded from the freehold's benefits. That has started to change thanks to the efforts of the Song of Sixpence motley. Beginning with the reign of Winter Court in 2010, courtless changelings are officially recognized by the monarchs and are afforded some protections.
Winter is the largest and most powerful court in the freehold. They wield this superiority with great care right now, so as not to foment a rebellion among the other courts.
Winter in Port Bowen is organized into many cells, siloed together to reduce the amount of shared organizational knowledge.
Spring is well-represented in the freehold. Their courtiers fill the usual role of their court: partiers and healers. Spring brings an indomitable will to the endeavors of the freehold, bolstering the resolve of all.
Shadow is one of the two newest courts in the freehold. It grew out of an organization of courtless changelings and is still ruled by direct democracy, with a figurehead monarch to satisfy certain pledge requirements.
Their numbers are tiny, but they work tirelessly and with little fanfare.
Summer was formerly the smallest court in the freehold. It's exactly as martial as one might expect and trains its members relentlessly. The court mirrors the conflicts of its most powerful members, which right now means the old feud between Chaser and Caleb.
Autumn operates as expected within the freehold. They hold many potent magical artifacts and tomes of fae knowledge.
Radiant is the newest and smallest court in the freehold, with just over a dozen members. It still has the feel of an energetic social club.
The freehold has a pretty huge number of courtless. They were excluded from the freehold at its forming 10 years ago and only recently gained recognition again. They have no internal organization outside of a few entitlements.
