*Things We've Learned* 2/17/11 session
SOMETIMES THIS SECTION GETS REALLY DETAILED. IF YOU'RE IN THE GROUP, AND WILL GET BORED HEARING IT AGAIN, DON'T READ IT!!!!!
-See the ENTIRE SESSION NOTES! All 2.5 page single-spaced Word document's worth of them (yes, a "good grief" or similar exclamation is appropriate here).
--Things Not Written (but definitely thought about) "how could I love Someone who's potentially (or actually) antagonistic to everything else I care about? And why does it hurt so much to think about a Gentry losing? Why does supporting Him, when I know that I'd lose everything else I care about to do it, feel right?"
-The Florida trip is intended to be the Freehold's easiest way out of Game-related problems. But it's also partly FOR Abtanis. Katie can't openly help Him, and has no intention of working against the Freehold. But where it looks like He's losing, ending the Game without a winner might be the best possible outcome for Him. In addition, not letting anyone win allows us to continue with our uneasy truce, where we can occasionally add a force multiplier to His own numbers. If He wins, everything changes, because we can no longer really afford, as a Freehold, to be working with the Lord of the Port. But if He wins, the stakes may be high enough that He disappears altogether. I can't help Him directly, and I don't want anything bad to happen to Him. So Miami is sort of the Third Way Sneaky Route. Which Katie is REALLY HOPING that He'd understand, at least after-the-fact.
-Frailties: No surrender, may only retreat or change course. May not violate the Laws of Hospitality (potential for two here). Must see the Earned Consequences of others' actions through, or at least not interfere.
