The asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter is the physical dividing line between the inner and outer system. Its asteroids are home to many habitats, research labs, industrial facilities, and less savory installations.
Unlike the various moons and planets of Sol, the belt has no centralized government nor capitol habitat. Various structures are owned by the autonomist factions, Planetary Consortium, Ultimates, and others.
Irradiated Tomb |
This is one of many communication relays within the belt. Designed to boost mesh signals, it’s part of the network of stations that keeps the inner worlds connected to the outer rim.
After detecting some suspicious signals coming from the relay, United Division investigated and found some highly classified nanobots that were responsible. As they hared off after the owners, YUKI remained behind. They were present to see a hit squad roll in and took action to trap and kill the squad at the cost of their current iteration.
The relay station is now heavily irradiated and damaged beyond repair. While it could be scrubbed and rebuilt, the high cost means it will likely remain a floating grave for many years.
Eerily Empty |
Former Black Site |
Drake is a very small bubble hab hidden within the belt. It served as a listening post and black ops interrogation site for PC interests. It was operational for an unknown amount of time before United Division raided the place. Drake now an empty husk of a hab, with everything of value stripped and only bare walls left behind.
Always Open for Business |
Martilock is a small spin-gravity habitat floating in the main belt. It advertises many very legal products and services, with the obvious subtext that everything else is just a few credits away.
Governance on Martilock is handled entirely by the Night Cartel bosses who run the hab. As far as crime, the only real rule is: don’t be bad for business.
Relax and Enjoy |
Interchangeable Guests |
Oasis Del Vasio is an extremely high-end resort habitat on a small asteroid in the belt. It caters exclusively to the wealthy elite of the inner system, with a real sand beach, open wave pool, lazy river, live-grown food, real alcohol, and a spate of Authentic Island AdventuresTM.
The resort has had some well-covered-up technical difficulties owing to the sub-par beta fork they had running the place. It has since been replaced by a competent professional.
Economy Exchange |
We Love* Our PC Neighbors |
Reciprosa is a small honeycomb-style habitat nestled in an asteroid of the belt. It is one of the older autonomist habitats in the system and is home to a tiny Barsoomian expat population. The hab does have minimal spin gravity for comfort, with most living areas near the surface of the asteroid for maximum effect.
The hab’s position on the edge of PC and Autonomist space makes it a frequent destination for hauler crews, traders, smugglers, and anyone else who needs to convert reputation and credits. Reciprosa’s local industry is dedicated to asteroid mining.
Technically designated “10 Hygiea”, this asteroid is the second largest object in the main belt and the fourth largest asteroid in Sol. Essentially a dwarf planet, Hygiea is the site of a good number of dome and honeycomb habitats.
Eyes Upon Eyes |
Damerel is a civilian habitat on Hygiea owned and operated by Stellar Intelligence. It is home to a few hundred personnel and their families. The hab’s location lets the residents socialize easily at other habs and enjoy all the recreation an asteroid belt can provide.
Like most corporate habs, Damerel is governed through direct “democracy”. While SI technically has the final say, they’d like their people to be happy and content, so most local matters stay local.
Every Vice a Contract |
Glamyra is a resort habitat on Hygiea in the main belt. As its name suggests, it is built to offer a glamorous and dazzling experience for all comers. As an extropian hab, very nearly anything anyone could want to do is legal, as long as a proper contract is agreed upon. Asteroid races, athletic sports, and zero-g caving are all very popular, and the providers have pre-written contracts ready to sign.
